The Trusts’ preferred choice for main frame erection is Tysley Locomotive Works, the engineering subsidiary of the Vintage Trains charitable trust. Their previous works of note include the frame erection of Tornado, the re-design of and assembly of the Rail Motor powered bogie and the steamlining of the Duchess of Hamilton.
The original frame drawings have been sent to Tyseley for initial thoughts to be followed by the following draft-work list: drilling of main frame plates, front buffer stiffener, buffer beam angles and gussets, footplate support angles, diagonal frame stretcher/ drag box, machining of components and assembly of the frames.
A further update will be available soon.
